I had to format the card in the camera.īut I still can't make the PC recognize the data on the card. Once again, same errors as before, and this time the card was so fouled up my Olympus wouldn't recognize it.
All was well, and again, I copied some files from the PC to the card in the reader. I hadn't even pulled the card out of the reader!Īnd then the system wouldn't read my card.Īfter a lot of futzing around (uninstalling the drivers, reinstalling the drivers, several times, plus plenty of other fooling around), I got it to work again.
Unplugging or ejecting devices without first stopping them can often cause your computer to crash and lose valuable data." I'm then presented with the option of showing an unplug device icon on the taskbar. Please try to save this file elsewhere.Ģ) A larger popup, looking like an information screen from Device Manager, telling me (in the title bar) Unsafe Removal of Device, and then something saying "You have unplugged or ejected a device without stopping it. The data has been lost. The error may be caused by a failure of your computer hardware or network connection. When that happened, I got these errors:ġ) A gray Windows error, in the title bar it says "Windows- Delayed Write Failed" and then next to a big white X in a red circle, it says "Windows was unable to saveall the data for the file \Device\Harddisk3\DP(1)O-0+9\DCIM\100Olymp\P2060001.JPG. The reader seemed to work fine - until the first time I tried copying data FROM the PC TO a SmartMedia card in the reader. I bought a new USB 2.0 Zio Dazzle 10-in-1 card reader today, hoping to free up a USB port, since I have Kodak (SD) and Olympus (SmartMedia) cameras. The whole original post follows, but the bottom line is that a new card reader I bought seems to go nuts whenever I try copying TO a card in the reader FROM my PC, and I'm wondering if others have experienced this. There's some applicability to Olympus because it involves a SmartMedia card. Apologizing in advance, I am copying this post I made yesterday in the storage and media area, into this forum.
